This course will include a full translation and commentary, both by Geshe Gelek, on the Yungdrung Bön Dzogchen text “Heartdrops of Küntu Zangpo - The Instruction Manual of the Stages of the Path of Clear Light Dzogpa Chenpo.”

The style of this teaching will be a line by line commentary on the text. This often includes an explanation of the translation itself, given that there is not always a direct, word for word translation of Tibetan to English - more concept to concept.

Sessions will include time for discussion, questions, and answers. The respective practices presented in the text will be directly experienced through guided meditations.

This material will be presented in a way that is open to those who are both brand new to learning Dzogchen and/or the Yungdrung Bön tradition and those who have practice experience.

As with many main teachings and practices, there are preliminary practices specific to that main teaching. These differ from general preliminaries This first section of the course (10 sessions) will focus on these specific preliminary practices from within in “Heartdrops of Küntu Zangpo.” It will then be followed by sections on the main practices.

Teaching Explanation from Geshe Gelek:

This profound teaching “Heart Drops of Küntu Zangpo” is vast like the sky and deep like the ocean, very difficult to realize. As only those of pure intelligence with the vast eye of knowledge can experience this, how could any others? This being the case, at the request of those virtuous ones with pure intentions, faith, and diligence, I will explain this profound path to those fortunate ones who can take this teaching.

In the spontaneously present palace in the primordial expanse, the perfect, complete, glorious Buddha Küntu Zangpo, who does not move from the meditative state of the nature of reality, taught this to the five Buddhas who are not different from he, and the inconceivable retinue of self- appearances of Rigpa, the profound realization of the ultimate teaching of the fruit, which is the class of Dzogpa Chenpo. The vastness of these teachings is beyond conception.

However, among all of these teachings, this is the teaching of the supreme essence of the swift, profound path of the Clear Light Dzogpa Chenpo.

Therefore, this teaching of the swift path of the Clear Light Dzogpa Chenpo teaches how to transform into the rainbow body in this lifetime.

These profound teaching of the swift path of the Clear Light “Heart Drops of Küntu Zangpo” has three quintessential subjects:

1. Those of the sharpest capacity join with the expanse of the pure ground in one lifetime.

2. Those of medium capacity become enlightened in the bardo.

3. Those of the lowest capacity are liberated in natural pure realms of the Emanation Bodies.

So, in this first section of the teaching there is the main topic of how those of the sharpest capacity join with the expanse of the heart of Küntu Zangpo in one lifetime.

Within this section there is the preliminary practice.

1. Khordé Rushen ( Separating Cyclic Existence and Transcendence of Suffering )

2. Reversing Attachment to Objects, Body, and Mind (The Trainings of the Body, Speech, and Mind )

Therefore, to become free from your own suffering depends upon yourself. Although we have the experiences of countless rebirths, we are aware that we are not yet free from the suffering of cyclic existence.

Now in this lifetime we have met with the unsurpassable teachings of Dzogchen which are difficult to encounter. We also have the great fortune of meeting a Geshe who can teach these precious teachings. If you practice these teachings of Dzogchen before you die then you actualize the benefit of your human life.

It is said that you are your own master. You are better than anyone else to love and take care of yourself. So do not miss this rare opportunity to get the kind of happiness that is continuous and unchanging.

Geshe Lungtok Tenzin Gelek practices and teaches Bon Religious Tradition. Geshe la has spent most of his life at Menri Monastery, since 7 years of age, learning the Bon tradition. HH 33rd Menri Trizin Lungtok Tenpai Nyima Rinpoche taught Geshe la how to chant according to the Menri tradition. Geshe la was appointed to the high position of Chant Master or Tsok Chen Um Zed, to lead all the Menri monks proper tone and pronunciation. He held the position for 3 years. HH 33rd Menri Trizin Rinpoche also taught him Cham – the secret dance, and held the position of Dance Master for 6 years. HE Yongdzin Lopon Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche taught Geshe la the Bon Scriptures of Sutra, Tantra and Dzogchen. Geshe la would memorize all root text of these scriptures. He also learned poetry, astrology, astronomy, Tibetan medicine, and methods for constructing mandalas and stupas. Geshe la taught Bon Mool Shastra (Bon root texts of Zhang-zhung) to students at Central University of Tibetan Studies, Varanasi, India for 14 years. Geshe la is dedicated to teaching and supporting the scriptures to all who are interested.
