Katerina Tzouganaki
Hello, my name is Katerina Tzouganaki and I use the pronouns she/her/hers.
Like many therapists, it was what I found through my own healing path that brought up the desire for me to support others in their healing. A bike accident brought pain to my life in a way that I could not stay in my comfort zone any more - it felt like my body was screaming to me and I HAD to listen. The quest of learning how to listen took me more than a handful of years of living in more than a handful of countries and exploring traditional and modern ways for transformation through different cultures.
When I started to listen, I found out that physical pain was not only about muscles and bones; emotions, energy, spirit, are all connected, all interwoven.
Fascinated by the potential of the healing arts, I shifted career direction - I left computer programming behind, and attended massage school. From then on, I’ve been passionately learning and practicing all kinds of modalities -Esalen massage, Thai Yoga massage, Thai foot Reflexology, Aguahara aquatic therapy, Contact Improvisation, somatics ( Feldenkrais, Alexander technique, Body Mind Centering ), Laban movement analysis, authentic movement, aquatic dance, meditation, mindfulness, Somatic Self Compassion and more.
I’m passionate about supporting people live their lives fully - with self-love, courage, ease, authenticity, presence and curiosity.
My work is deeply intuitive and customized to each person I work with. The foundation is gentle Thai Yoga Massage (no intense stretching), combined with tools from somatic & awareness techniques, adjusted to your needs and comfort zone. The space created is a territory of powerful transformation, where you learn how to own your body and your experiences, set your boundaries and express your needs and desires. My approach is trauma sensitive and the intention is physical and emotional integration, where all of you can be accepted. The body is not worked on, but worked with, treated as a whole.
Sessions take place in comfortable clothing. Kneading and non-invasive pressure are applied on muscles, pressure points and sen energy lines, as well as rocking, gentle passive elongation and yoga-like stretching.
I currently live and practice in Boston, MA, based around Jamaica Plain.
