Weekly we meditate, read and discuss how we can apply original Buddhist teachings to our daily life and heal the pain and suffering of all addictions. Recovery Dharma offers a dynamic set of tools and techniques that anyone can use to transform the mind. We are a community of empowerment and don’t ask anyone to believe in anything other than our own potential to transform, heal and awaken. Recovery Dharma supports all pathways to recovery.
In respect of privacy, there is no pre-registration for this group.

Dan refers to this as 'meditation improv' in that there is no set agenda for the evening. The first hour is spent on questions, comments, and discussion about meditation practice and spirituality in everyday life, informed by Eastern and Western philosophy. The second hour is then a guided meditation based on the discussion.

We are a community of practitioners who come together for meditation and dharma sharing. Our practice is inspired by the teachings of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh as well as other teachers within the Buddhist tradition. Newcomers are always welcome.
This year guiding teacher Yenkuei Chuang will offer her teachings and support for our sangha with a program called “A Year In Mindfulness".
We will create a strong practice of mindfulness by:
1) looking deeply into ourselves and our conditioning,
2) reading and studying the teachings of the historical Buddha and modern mindfulness teachers,
3) paying attention to the truth we find in everyday life, and
4) creating a community of practitioners to support each other on this path.
As a result of this practice, we will transform some of our more challenging mental habits and find more ease and joy in daily life. Yenkuei will be available to meet with you one-on-one to discuss any questions about your practice and process what comes up as you transform.
Drop-ins welcome although regular attendance is strongly recommended for the whole year.
Dr. Yenkuei Chuang is a mindfulness-based licensed psychologist and an ordained member of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh’s Order of Interbeing. She received her M.Ed. in Human Development from Harvard University and Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Stanford University. Also a Fulbright Fellow, she wrote her dissertation on Bicultural Competence. Previously she worked as a clinical psychologist at Harvard University Health Services and a diversity consultant at Harvard Pilgrim Foundation. Dr. Chuang is keenly interested in helping people transform their suffering across life transitions; and cultural, gender, racial and other perceived differences and separations. She enjoys being a mother to her four children, writing, cooking and dancing. Dr. Chuang has also been a long-term student in Iyengar Yoga, and she happily integrates her studies of yoga and Buddhist meditation.
It is the mission of the Boston Center for Contemplative Practice to provide balanced financial accessibility to our services. We believe that what we offer should be for everyone. We offer scholarships for our professional trainings and we offer a 3-tiered, self-selecting pricing system for events and classes.

This group will offer mindfulness-based art therapy practices focusing on accessing emotions, releasing tension, and restoring a wholly healthy relationship with our bodies.
The beginning of winter invites us to turn inward. Moving with conscientious reflection, we will process inwardly, so critical to our healing as we move through covid, a racial uprising, and the election. This 4-week group offers an intentional space for a small group of BIPOC women and non-binary individuals, critical as we move into a season of increasing isolation and the challenges that come with the end of 2020.
We will use this season as a guide in this group, harvesting the fruit of our growth in 2020 by making room for gratitude. As so much greenery dies back and is shed, we consider what we need to let go of, and we will share space to grieve our losses from the year. With the days shortening, we will approach our own period of rest and introspection, and plant the seeds for new growth in spring.
Participants will receive a pre-emailed set of prompts for each group, as well as follow-up journaling and processing practices.
